Why are more and more PCBs being made into multi-layer boards? This is a question that many friends have now. The editor tells you that when PCB circuit boards were first born, their application fields were not large. At that time, there were no multi-layer boards. With the development of the times, due to the advancement of high integration circuit technology and microelectronics technology, the volume of electronic products has become smaller and smaller. Therefore, the requirements for circuit boards carrying various electronic components have become increasingly high. Today, we will take you to understand the advantages of multi-layer boards:

For the most basic PCB, components are concentrated on one side and wires are concentrated on the other side. Because only one side can be wired, this type of PCB is called a single panel, while double-sided boards can be wired on both sides, so the wiring area is twice that of a single panel, making it suitable for more complex circuits.

For simple circuits like radios, single-sided and double-sided boards are usually sufficient. However, with the upgrading of electronic products, the complexity of circuits has greatly increased, and higher requirements have been put forward for the electrical performance of PCBs. If single-sided and double-sided boards are still used, the volume will be large, and wiring will be very difficult. Moreover, interference between circuits is also difficult to handle. So multi-layer boards emerged.

The assembly density of PCB multilayer boards is high. Small size; The connection between electronic components is shortened, which accelerates the transmission speed; Convenient wiring; For high-frequency circuits, adding a ground layer creates a constant low impedance between the signal line and ground, resulting in better shielding effect.

The commonly used multilayer boards at present are mostly four layer or six layer boards, but there are now practical printed circuit boards with over 100 layers.
